Young and adult amateur cooks and professional chefs are invited to create an edible book for the sixth annual Edible Books Festival and Competition 2 to 4 p.m. April 12 at Central Library, 115 South Ave.

The event, sponsored by the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library, features edible three-dimensional sculptures that represent a literary title or theme. The sculptures might be made of cake, produce, pasta or any other edible items.

There are four categories for entries: ages 7 to 11; ages 12 to 17; adult amateur; professional. Prizes will be awarded in each category.

The event will also include cooking demonstrations, tastings from Monroe Community College/Sodexo Hospitality program, a Foodlink information table, family-friendly scavenger hunt throughout the library, an Edible Rochester exhibit and pop-up talks about Rochester's food history.

The deadline for submission is April 4. For details and entry forms, go to www.EdibleBooks.ffrpl.org or contact Rebecca Fuss at (585) 428-8350 or Rebecca.Fuss@libraryweb.org.

The Edible Books Festival and Competition calls for people to make literary-themed works with food ingredients.
