  • Diana Nole has been named CEO of Netherlands-based Wolters Kluwer's health division.

Netherlands-based Wolters Kluwer NV has lured a top executive away from Carestream Health Inc.

Diana Nole, president of Carestream's digital medical solution business, has been named CEO of Wolters Kluwer's health division, according to an announcement by the overseas firm. Nole is expected to start her new job on Sept. 8. Terms of Nole's contract were not released.

"As a seasoned leader of a larger health care solutions provider, she will bring great experience to our company," said Nancy McKinstry, CEO and chairwoman of Wolters Kluwer. "Diana has a very strong background in healthcare IT coupled with deep insights into customer needs and industry trends."

Nole joined Carestream about eight years ago and oversaw all operations for the Rochester-based medical imaging company's $1 billion business of health care equipment, software and related services. She's credited with helping to develop several products, including working on making headway into the field of sports medicine and traumatic brain injuries.

She also worked on Carestream's DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System, basically a digital X-ray machine on wheels, marketed to hospital intensive care units, where such imaging can be difficult given how patients sometimes cannot be easily moved.

Nole has also been active in the community, having previously been named a finalist for the Athena Award and Digital Rochester's Technology Woman of the Year. Her nomination for the Athena Award pointed to service on boards of the Hillside Family of Agencies, United Way of Greater Rochester, St. John Fisher College and State University College at Potsdam, her alma mater, where she endowed a scholarship for women.

She started at Eastman Kodak Co. as a worldwide logistics supervisor/systems analyst, and also held several other leadership roles in the firm's health care information technology division. She earned a master's from the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester.

"I look forward to joining Wolters Kluwer," Nole said in a statement. "It's mission to deliver tailored solutions to health professionals is compelling. The strong portfolio of products and services, in combination with leading product brands, provides a great platform for accelerating growth and contributes to improving health care globally."
