Mayor Lovely Warren said that an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting this morning on Woodward Street that left two people dead and four others wounded.

William James, 30, a Rochester resident, is being charged with one count of second-degree murder and is in custody.

"You will go to prison and your life with (your family) will end as you know it," Warren said.

"The reason we were able to make a quick arrest is that people came forward to give us information; and even in the Boys and Girls Club shooting, we had people coming forward," she added.

Police Chief Michael Ciminelli said that 30 to 50 people were in the house during the dispute.

Ciminelli acknowledged that police were at the house about two hours prior to the shooting but that when police arrived, only two people were on the porch and they were dispersed.

The victims were three men and three women and ranged in age from 24 to 36. One remains in critical condition and three others have non-life threatening injuries.

Ciminelli said that police are not looking for another suspect.

James is expected to be arraigned in city court on Monday.
