A man shot a woman several times in downtown Geneva shortly before noon Sunday — her 38th birthday — then killed himself in an apparent murder-suicide, police said.

Geneva police identified those killed as Emily Carson, 38, and Pedro Pacheco, 35.

Officers in the Ontario County town responded to multiple calls of a shooting at 11:45 a.m. on Exchange Street in the area of the Exchange Place lot. Officers found both people with gunshot wounds. The male was already dead and the woman died shortly thereafter at Geneva General Hospital, according to the Geneva Police Department.

A weapon was found at the scene. Police are not looking for any other suspects and do not believe there is any danger to the community.
