1. Alternative rock act Death Cab for Cutie headlines a 7 p.m. Friday concert at Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center in Hopewell. 2. The Roc City Rib Fest features a Kansas City Barbecue Society Competition as well as the Roc City Rib Cook-off and the World Bacon Championship. The family-friendly celebration also features a variety of entertainment and activities. Events run from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday at the Roundhouse Pavilion in Genesee Valley Park. 3. The Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Thomas Wilkins, will showcase Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10 at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Saturday in Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre. 4.The Rochester Memorial Day Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Monday. The parade forms on East Avenue at Alexander Street, proceeds along East Avenue to the Liberty Pole on Main Street, then heads west to Plymouth Avenue. For more, go to cityofrochester.gov.

5. ZooBrew, a social for ages 21 and older, kicks off its season at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Seneca Park Zoo. There'll be music by Steve Grills and the Roadmasters, Eric and the Blues Birds and Amanda Lee Peers (as well as beer, wine and food). Admission is $10. Go to senecaparkzoo.org.

6. Karen Miltner, the Democrat and Chronicle's food writer, will offer samples of rhubarb recipes Saturday at the Rochester Public Market. She'll be outside the market's office from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, or inside in case of inclement weather.

7. In the Heights, presented by OFC Creations and the Rochester Latino Theatre Company, opens at RAPA's East End Theatre. The upbeat Pulitzer-prize nominated musical is set primarily in the Hispanic neighborhood of New York City's Washington Heights. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. through Saturday. 10. Old-fashioned fun at the Boardwalk Arcade exhibit starts Saturday at The Strong National Museum of Play. Play Ring Toss, Skee-Ball, Hoop Fever and Harpoon Lagoon. Also opening is Pinball Playfields, featuring some of the best arcade versions from throughout the decades. Both exhibits will be on view through Sept. 7.
