The man accused of a triple homicide on Genesee Street has been indicted by a grand jury.

Johnny Blackshell Jr., who has been accused of first-degree murder in the Aug. 19 shooting outside the Boys & Girls Club, has been indicted, a prosecutor said Monday. A Rochester City Court hearing for Blackshell was cancelled because of the indictment.

The specifics of the indictment may not become public until the grand jury completes its term. That could be a week or more, according to Assistant District Attorney Michelle Crowley.

Killed on Aug. 19 were Jonah Barley, 17, Raekwon Manigault, 19, and Johnny Johnson, 25.

Blackshell was on parole for an attempted burglary at the time of the killings.

Blackshell's lawyer, Joseph Damelio, said the public should not jump to conclusions about Blackshell's alleged involvement before any evidence has been released.

Blackshell also faces federal charges accusing him of a robbery and illegal possession of a weapon.
