The Injury Zone: The Morph

Russ Manalastas

Greetings from the Injury Zone! This week I'm excited to introduce to you a new product that is going to be coming out on the market hopefully in the near future. The Morph, which was created by former NFL tight end Nate Lawrie, is the first collapsible foam roller that I've seen hit the market since the foam roller became a mainstream recovery tool.

With foam rolling being utilized by many people in the health industry, the one complaint that I hear from many of my former clients or athletes was the need for either a smaller or more compact roller to make them more portable. Although the smaller foam rollers have found a niche for those who travel often, the problem that I've seen with the smaller foam roller is that the lack of surface area limits people from getting their normal benefit from the standard sized roller.

Nate reached out to me and introduced me to The Morph a few weeks back and I was really excited to hear about his product because this is something I've been hoping would finally come out on the market. The Morph has a collapsible core technology that is composed of aluminum and bamboo. There are rip cords on the inner aspect of the roller and when they are pulled it creates the cylindrical shape of a normal foam roller. When you are done with The Morph, you just the plastic part right under the rip cords and the roller flattens out for you to store. If you are more of a visual person, check out the video of The Morph in action here.

Being able to take your foam roller anywhere just became a lot easier
The Morph comes with a protective sleeve if you are using it outdoors or in different environments.

As a physical therapist who does a lot of talks with with the general public and with athletes, I always looks for easier ways to transport different soft tissue tools to demonstrate for warm-ups or self care. The Morph should be a game changer for those who want to take their foam roller wherever they go. I'm excited to test it out myself and will put up a full review of The Morph in the future.

A special thanks again to Nate for reaching out to me about this great product. If you want more information about The Morph or want to support the product, feel free to check out The Morph's Kickerstarter page here!
