The Democrat and Chronicle is learning more today about one of the three young people found dead at a home in Geneseo early Sunday.

Police said Monday that Colin Kingston, 24, stabbed his ex-girlfriend and another SUNY Geneseo student to death before he took his own life.

Kingston graduated from Geneseo High School in 2009. Rich Miles coached him in basketball from 2007 to 2008 when Colin was a junior.

"He was one of my favorite kids ... I loved his attitude ... He was our toughest guy, toughest defender. He was about 6-3. Just a very physical kid. A farm kid, you know? Just went after it and always competed. I really liked him a lot.  He was one of my favorites, easily. He never complained. He showed up. He worked hard."

A home at 5109 Groveland Road, listed as the residence of Daniel Kingston, Colin's father.

Miles recalled a memory of Kingston playing well during a Section V game against York, which he said was a huge cross-town rival of Geneseo High School.

"He was always a kid that worked hard. I never had any problems with him at all. He seemed like one of those kids to me that would do well no matter what because he had that work ethic and good attitude," Miles said.

A family member of Colin Kingston declined to comment for this article.

The other victims found in the house were Kelsey Annese, 21-year-old Webster woman, and Matthew Hutchinson, 24, a Canadian. Both were students at SUNY Geneseo, a very tight-knit college town.

"It was pretty terrible ... just because the way it is in Geneseo, you almost always know somebody who knows somebody, and that was definitely the case yesterday," said Lucio Accorso, a junior at the school who lives near 18 Wadsworth St. where the victims were discovered.

A message posted on the SUNY Geneseo website says:

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden, tragic loss of members of the Geneseo family. Please check our information page for updates, FAQs and guidance on locating counseling and support."
