Noam Chomsky leads a panel discussion at The Little Theatre on April 22.

Noam Chomsky, the famed linguist, writer, social critic and one of the most-talked about intellectuals of our time, leads a panel discussion at The Little Theatre following the 7:30 p.m. April 22 screening of Requiem of the American Dream.

The documentary was assembled from four years of interviews with Chomsky, in which he discusses a handful of social and political issues that he sees as pointing in one direction: The death of American democracy. A longtime activist, the 87-year-old philosopher was an outspoken critic of the Vietnam War, earning a place on Richard Nixon's now-legendary enemies list. His wide range of targets include the media and the war on terror. Chomsky has also argued that free speech is unconditional, including such unpopular topics as Holocaust denial.

The three filmmakers will also be on hand for this program sponsored by the University of Rochester. Chomsky also has a 5 p.m. April 21 talk at the school's Interfaith Chapel that is open to the public. Tickets for his appearance at The Little ($10 general admission, $8 for students, Little members and seniors) are available at thelittle.org.
