Monroe County sheriff's deputies continue to search for three drivers believed to be involved in the hit-and-run crash that killed a Penfield woman on Empire Boulevard Saturday night.

Sheriff's spokesman Cpl. John Helfer said deputies were called to the crash scene in front of Creek Hill Apartments, 1700 Empire Blvd, just before 10 p.m. and found a woman deceased in the roadway. But, he said, deputies but could not locate any cars or motorists involved in the crash.

Helfer said Amy Menz, 30, ran out to Empire Boulevard, between Plank Road and Creek Street, after she was involved in an argument with a family member at their Creek Hill apartment. Helfer said witnesses saw Menz standing by the road, appearing as though she was waiting for vehicles to pass by.

She eventually ran into traffic on the four-lane road and was struck by three eastbound cars, Helfer said.

All three cars involved in the crash momentarily stopped, pulling onto the shoulder before all three drivers left the scene, Helfer said. It was unknown why all three drivers fled, though Helfer described their departure to be "bizarre."

Deputies are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or the fleeing vehicles to call 911.
