The transformation of CityGate at the intersections of East Henrietta and Westfall Road in Rochester is fully underway. Anchored by Costco, a handful of smaller new retailers have opened at the 45-acre development. That's in addition to plans for a 150-room hotel and a 300-unit apartment complex on the Erie Canal, according to its developer, Anthony J. Costello & Son.

Here's a look at some of the new and coming retailers at the site:

1. CityGate Wine & Spirits

Bourbons are a specialty at new CityGate Wine & Spirits

With over 10,000 square feet of retail space, this is a destination store for bourbon, vodka and New York wine connoisseurs. General Manager Jim Houle says there is an emerging trend of consumers who enjoy specialty spirits, seeking the latest and greatest when it comes to bourbon and vodka. He just got in a shipment of Four Roses bourbon, priced at $70.99 and expects it to sell out as soon as his bourbon fans learn that they're in stock.

2. Cheeburger Cheeburger

Cheeburger Cheeburger moved from Charlotte to CityGate

After a dozen years in Charlotte at the ferry terminal,  franchise owner Mike Bauer grabbed the opportunity at CityGate "to have a year-round business." So far so good when it comes to the move, as many regulars from the near by hospitals at Strong and Highland as well as students from University of Rochester are stopping by the '50s-style diner. Enjoy a burger with your choice of over 20 free toppings, from pickles to artichokes, and sip on your Oreo malted shake while listening to "Soldier Boy" from the jukebox.

3. DiBella Old-Fashioned Subs

The Rochester-based chain serves specialty submarine sandwiches, such as Italian meatball and cheese steak, on homemade bread.

4. Qdoba

Qdoba to open in June

Slated to open in June, this fast casual eatery is similar to Moe's and Chipotle. There are burritos with your choice of fillings and the chain's signature Knockout Tacos to try.

5. REI

Specialty Outdoor Retailer REI store in Seattle, WA.

This fall, the Seattle-based chain will open a 27,000-square-foot store with top brands of outdoor gear and apparel for camping, climbing, cycling, fitness, hiking, travel and paddling, and the bike shop will provide cyclists with expert assembly and repair services. The stores will also offer expert advice from in-store guides and classes through REI Outdoor School.
