New York Chiropractic College president to retire

New York Chiropractic College president Frank J. Nicchi will retire from his post on Aug. 31, 2017. Nicchi has been with the college for 36 years and president for 17. Under his leadership, the college evolved from a single-purpose college preparing chiropractic doctors, to educating and training natural healthcare professionals and academicians.

Nicchi earned his bachelor's degree from St. John’s University (N.Y.) in 1973, his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1978 and a master's degree in management at Roberts Wesleyan College in 2005. He has been a member of the faculty of New York Chiropractic College since 1980. Prior to his appointment as president, Dr. Nicchi served as dean of continuing education. He also maintained a chiropractic private practice in New York state for 20 years.

Nicchi’s presidency included the addition of master’s degree programs in acupuncture, acupuncture and Oriental medicine, applied clinical nutrition, human anatomy and physiology instruction, clinical anatomy and diagnostic imaging; as well as a bachelor of professional studies degree in life sciences.

Nicchi has served as president of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, a consortium of accredited chiropractic educational programs in North America, and as a board member of the Academic Consortium for Complementary and Alternative Health Care.

The succession committee of the college's board of trustees is working on identifying a successor.

The New York Chiropractic College is in Seneca Falls.
