Watch and discuss: Birth of a Nation Friday at Little
A Nate Parker film, The Birth of a Nation, the story of slave Nat Turner and a revolt he led in the south in 1831, will be the focus of a panel and community discussion following the showing of the film at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21 at the Little Theater, 240 East Ave.
The Rochester Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a public service organization, is organizer and host of the event. Helene Biandudi Hofer, producer and host of WXXI's Need to Know, will moderate a talk-back that features five panelists:
The Rev. Dr. Marvin McMickle, president of Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School; Nate Brown, host of WHTK-AM's What's Going On; Terry Chaka, executive director of the Baobab Cultural Center; Professor Signithia Fordham, anthropologist and faculty member at the University of Rochester; and Professor Jeremy Sarachan, chairman of the Department of Media and Communication at St. John Fisher College.
