Mike Miara made a key save with less than 20 seconds to play as No. 10 Churchville-Chili upset No. 2 Webster Thomas 15-14 in a Class B quarterfinal lacrosse game Wednesday.

Both teams scored within the first minute of play in a closely contested game. C-C didn’t lead until the second half at 11-10, leading by as many as two on multiple occasions.

Thomas trimmed the Saints lead to one with four minutes to play. The Titans best opportunity came in the final minute, but Miara stood strong in net.

Jake Buck scored five goals and added four assists to lead C-C (7-11). Austin Orengo added three goals and an assist and both Corey Yunker and Patrick Sheridan tallied a trio of scores for the Saints.

Nick Mabe had 6 goals and an assist and Brad Smith recorded 4 goals and an assist for Thomas (13-4).Churchville-Chili moves on to face No. 3 Canandaigua at either 11 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Penfield for a Class B semifinal matchup.
