She's out: Judge Leticia Astacio free after serving DWI sentence

Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio wipes away tears as she addresses the court during her sentencing for violating the terms of her 2016 drunk driving conviction Thursday, July 6, 2017.

Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio was released from jail Thursday morning after being there for over a month, according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Astacio was sentenced last week to 60 days in jail — which takes into account days she served before her sentencing — and three years probation for violating the conditions of her 2016 DWI conviction. She’ll also need to wear an alcohol monitoring bracelet for six months.

She was jailed on June 5.

Astacio spoke to Judge Stephen Aronson at her sentencing last week, saying she felt the media had hurt her reputation during the ordeal and that she "wants this all to be over.”

Astacio was charged in February 2016 with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated. A state trooper testified he found Astacio's SUV on the side of Interstate 490 near Mt. Read Boulevard with extensive front-end damage and both driver's side tires flat. She was found guilty of driving while intoxicated after a bench trial last August.

Submitting to random court-ordered drug tests and abstaining from alcohol were among the conditions of the sentence Astacio received as a result of her conviction.

Last month she was found guilty of violating those terms.
