The 13-year-old girl shot on the front porch of her home on Hollister Street, appears to have non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Rochester Police Department.

The girl, whose name has not been released, is being treated at Strong Memorial Hospital after being taken there by Rural/Metro Medical Services with "at least one gunshot wound to her upper body," said Capt. Ray Dearcop.

A citizen called 911 after the shooting occurred about 4:48 p.m. Monday at 90 Hollister St., Dearcop said.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates several males were standing in the driveway when a silver minivan approached from the south.

"One of the occupants of the van fired several shots at the group in the driveway then the van fled the scene," said Dearcop in a written statement.

"The victim was on the enclosed porch when she was shot and the group in the driveway fled on foot. The victim does not appear to have been the intended target. ...There has been no other victims found to have been shot."

During the early stages of the investigation, police roped off portions of Hollister Street and a business at the southwest corner of Portland and Clifford Avenue, which is a block away from the girl's home. The silver mini-van, was believed to have entered the intersection, Dearcop said.

Arrests have yet to be made and no suspect information has been released. The investigation is ongoing.

Police ask anyone with information to call 911.
